RONAL GMBH in the MEDIA CENTER

The RONAL GROUP presents a world first: its prototype “SLM Concept Wheel.” The 3D-printed one-piece wheel made of light alloy (AlSi10) weighs around 5 kg and features a wheel load of 515 kg. Measuring 7x13 inches, it’s the perfect fit for the 1970s Ford Capri that the RONAL GROUP will showcase at its stand. Successful testing of the “SLM Concept Wheel” for use in road traffic in accordance with paragraph 30 of the German Road Traffic Registration Ordinance underscores the future viability of wheel production by means of selective laser melting – the wheel even exceeded the requirements. The name of the concept wheel comes from the production technology selective laser melting. Offering a greater freedom in design and functional integration, toolless additive manufacturing enables highly customizable wheels tailored to customer requests. Following production, all 3D-printed wheels undergo an x-ray check to rule out defects and material failure. The prototype wheel is part of a study by RONAL TECHNOLOGIE GmbH, founded by the RONAL GROUP as an innovation center to combine all of the wheel manufacturer’s development and research activities at one location. With the “SLM Concept Wheel,” the company demonstrates the technical feasibility of 3D printing for wheels while generating additional expertise in the area.

The RONAL R50 AERO wheel with its radial spokes to cool the brakes, and its closed shape with the ensuing aerodynamics, from which it takes its name, has cult status. On its 50th anniversary, the RONAL GROUP has brought the coveted classic many years after its first appearance on the market in a new contemporary variant – therefore showing that certain designs never seem to age. With the high-value execution of the design in the highlight color racing gold-lip diamond cut, the RONAL GROUP is updating the cult for the previous racing wheels from the 1980s. The anniversary version of RONAL R50 AERO is available in sizes of 7.5x16 inches (with 4 and 5 hole connection) and 8.0x18 inches (with 5 hole connection) in selected applications. The shapely and functional combination of sportiness, trendy elegance and perfection is excellent for the VW Polo, VW Golf, Mercedes C and E class, VW Transporter T5/T6, as well as many classical vehicles.

The RONAL R62 design has until now been available only in a jet black-matt-diamond cut style with the option of customization by application of colored plastic finishes. Now this trendy wheel is available in a new surface finish. Even when stationary, the slightly offset spoke elements lend the RONAL R62 a particularly dynamic effect. Now the wheel is available with the new shiny jet black surface finish for mid-range and top-of-the-range sporty vehicles such as the Audi A6, BMW 3 series, Mercedes GLC, Škoda Octavia, Ford Focus, Hyundai I 30 (N) and Peugeot 508. The sizes offered are 7.5x17, 7.5x18, 8.0x19 and 8.5x20 inches with selected mounting holes. It can be customized by applying colored design elements as well.

The RONAL R9 remake brings the tuning tradition for classic vehicles back to life. Many historical cars from German brands were fitted with the RONAL R9 in the mid 70s to late 80s in the typical Penta design or later retrofitted with them. The wheel was first produced in a 15 inch model in 1981, then also available in 16 inches. The RONAL GROUP will relaunch the Penta wheel in the 15 inch version in response to high demand for the classic wheel from early years. Shaping an entire generation of car fans, the retro design will be available in the vintage silver-rim lip diamond cut surface finish in size 7.0x15 inch with 5x112 and 5x120 mounting holes starting in January 2020. The reissue of the R9 wheel has been tested and is approved for street use in several historic vehicle models. Suitable for the Mercedes W 123, VW Transporter T3, BMW 5/1 and 5/H, it lends every vintage car an unmistakable look. Several vehicle models are available for the wheel at www.ronal-wheels.com; the sales team would be happy to help with additional configurations.
