Only power helps in the long run: For almost 50 years, that has been the basic recipe of the Essen Motor Show, the performance festival of superlatives. In this respect, everything began in an absolutely modest way. In 1968, the Essen Motor Show started under the name of the "International Sports and Racing Car Exhibition Essen". On a still manageable area of 7,000 square metres at that time, the fair organisers presented sports and racing cars from the past motorsports year. At that time, nobody anticipated that it would develop into an automobile fair which is unsurpassed in its multifaceted character today. On the Facebook channel of the Essen Motor Show, the fans can gain an impression of the chequered history of the mega-event. Contributions with historic photos regularly carry the visitors off into the golden era of motorsports and recount the most important stages of the fair.
From December 2 to 10, 2017 (December 1: Preview Day), Messe Essen will once more become the Mecca for performance fans. The Essen Motor Show will open its doors for the 50th time and will make the halls quake with around 500 exhibitors and over 300,000 expected visitors. Europe's leading fair for performance vehicles will unite all the passions associated with automobiles: performance series vehicles, tuning, motorsports and classic cars - from the eagerly awaited fair premiere via spectacular performance racers right up to classic automobiles. Highlights such as the DMAX Motorsports Arena, the tuningXperience and other special shows will get the visitors' adrenaline racing in addition.
